CHALCIDIAN HIGH TIN BRONZE HELMET WITH CHEEKS - Ca. 300 BCA bronze Chalcidian helmet with a domed crown and a prominent horizontal ridge encircling the lower section. The front has arched openings for the eyes, separated by a short, projecting nasal guard extending from the brow. Hinged, separately made cheek-pieces are attached behind the eye openings. The helmet curves down at the back into a broad, flaring neck flange with a sharply defined rim.Size: 310mm x 275mm; Weight: 1.1kg.Provenance: Private Collection; Previously Roger Peyrefitte, France, 1990s.
