CHALCIDIAN / ATTIC BRONZE HELMET WITH CHEEKPIECES - Ca. 300 - 200 BC A bronze helmet of Chalcidian type with a high ovoid skull surmounted by three longitudinal ribs that run over the crown and diverge into a V-shape above the brow. From this point, the ribs continue as raised bands encircling the lower part of the bowl and terminating behind the cheekpieces in tight spirals. A pair of elongated cheek-pieces of tapering outline is hinged at the sides, each plate pierced with small rivet holes along the edges. Size: 310mm x 225mm; Weight: 670g.
