STUNNING GREEK IRON KOPIS WITH SILVER INLAYS - Ca. 500 - 300 BC An extremely rare iron kopis with a long, single-edged convex blade tapering to a pointed tip. The integral hilt features an openwork grip and a pommel formed as the forepart of a horse, the head shown in profile with an arched neck, pointed ear, and circular eye. Linear and curvilinear silver inlays ornament the grip and ricasso, with an elongated inlaid line running along the upper blade. Professionally cleaned and conserved to museum standards. Provenance: Propery of a central London gallery; Previously in the Bonnhauser Collection, Zurich, acquired in 2003; Ex-Hamilton White Collection, England, acquired in the 1970's.
