LATE ROMAN IRON SPATHA - Ca. AD 300 - 500 A long iron sword blade of straight, slender form with near-parallel cutting edges that taper towards a rounded tip. The blade is of lenticular section with a low central ridge on each face. Short oblique shoulders lead to an integral flat tang of rectangular section aligned with the centreline of the blade. Size: 720mm x 47mm; Weight: 582g. Provenance: Private UK collection; From an old British collection formed in the 1990s.
