GANDHARAN STONE PANEL DEPICTING LIFE STAGES OF BUDDHA - Ca. AD 200 - 500 A beautiful stone panel depicting different life stages of Buddha in three registers. The top register shows Buddha with worshippers, with the middle depicting disciples. The lowest register depicts the Great Departure of Buddha, during which Prince Siddhartha is shown leaving his palace riding the white horse Kanthaka. Size: 520mm x 380mm; Weight: 17.33kg. Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in early 2000s in Japan; previously in 1970s Japanese collection.
