SUMERIAN MARBLE COMPARTMENTED VESSEL SUPPORTED BY RAMS - Ca. 2600 - 2500 BCA marble compartmented vessel supported by a pair of recumbent rams carved back to back, the rectangular upper container cut with two circular cavities and small circular perforations between them. The animals are shown in profile along the long sides with the legs folded beneath and the flanks covered in incised wavy lines for the fleece, the heads with spiral horns and recessed circular eyes.Size: 115mm x 75mm; Weight: 475g.Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of an early 2000s UK ancient art collection; formerly in the collection of G.M., prior to 1996.This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
