APULIAN RED-FIGURE HYDRIA WITH WARRIOR IN THE TEMPLE - Ca. 350 BCA red-figure hydria with a broad, rounded body rising from a tall, flaring foot to a short neck and wide, outturned rim, with a single vertical handle at the back and two horizontal loop handles at the sides. The rim is encircled by an ovolo frieze, the neck with palmettes above a band of waves and the shoulder decorated with radiating tongues. On side A, a nude warrior strides to the right, wearing a short chlamys and holding a spear, approaching a draped figure seated on a stepped base and holding a large hydria on his lap, all set beside a tall architectural column and framed by hanging fillets and elaborate scrolls and palmettes in the side panels.
