SUPERB GREEK TERRACOTTA RAM-SHAPED ASKOS - TL TESTED - Ca. 600 - 400 BC. A terracotta askos modelled in the form of a recumbent ram, with a rounded body and short, projecting legs, surmounted by a cylindrical spout rising vertically from the back. A small additional spout is positioned low on the chest between the forelegs. The head is sculpted in high relief with prominent eyes, defined nostrils, and tightly curled horns sweeping backwards. Painted decoration in dark pigment covers the entire body with a repetitive pattern imitating fleece.
