Rolex, GMT-Master, Ref 6542 A Highly Important Stainless Steel Dual Time Zone Wristwatch with Date, - C.1958AA superb example of an exceptionally rare and historically significant Rolex Oyster Perpetual GMT-Master, this timepiece, reference 6542, is a true icon of aviation horology. Produced for only a short period between 1954 and 1959, this model is instantly identifiable by its fragile yet captivating original Bakelite ”Pepsi” bezel in vibrant red and blue, a feature that was prone to damage and subsequently recalled by Rolex, making surviving examples exceedingly scarce. It is historically significant as the very first GMT-Master reference produced and carries the famous ”Pussy Galore” nickname, after the character in the James Bond film Goldfinger who wore an identical model.
