TONGAN HEAD REST - Ca. 19th century AD. >An elegantly carved Tongan headrest (kali) with a long, gently curved upper platform designed to support the nape of the neck during sleep. The surface is decorated with finely incised geometric ornament, arranged in parallel bands that follow the curvature of the form and create a subtle woven effect. The platform is raised on two short cylindrical legs.
