MICRONESIAN WOODEN STORAGE BOX - Ca. 19th - early 20th century AD. A cylindrical wooden storage container with fitted lid, carved from wood and joined with pegged tacks. Such boxes were primarily used in Micronesia to store fishing implements, but were also used for storing valuables, ritual objects, or foodstuffs, and were carefully crafted to protect contents from humidity and insects.Size: 320mm x 190mm; Weight: 1.35kgProvenance: Prince collection, 1990s-2014; Ex.
