NEAR EASTERN AGATE BIRD-SHAPED SEAL - Ca. II Millennium BC. A banded agate seal carved as a bird with an elongated body, short neck, rounded crested head, and pointed beak. The folded wing is incised with parallel feathers, and the tail terminates in a fan of short grooves. The underside is engraved with scattered symbols between a sun at one end and a crescent moon above the seven-dot glyph at the other. The seal is drilled transversely for suspension.
