First Edition. Dyhernfurth, 1691. At the top of the title page appears an early signature of Rabbi Raphael HaKohen. Sugnature of the Gaon Rabbi Chaim Shmuel Nechmias, a sage of Salonika. Due to persecution and harassment by his enemies, he left his city in 1773 and immigrated to the Holy Land, settling in Jerusalem until his passing in 1782. Signature of Rabbi Yitzchak Danon. On the margins of the volume are handwritten glosses (some trimmed) in impressive early Ashkenazic script. Stamp of Rabbi Yehuda HaKohen Rabin, rabbi of the Bukharian community in Jerusalem. The author, Rabbi Hillel ben Naftali Hertz (1615–1690), was a rabbi from Lithuania and a dayan (rabbinic judge) in Vilna. He later served as Av Beit Din in the AHU communities (in Germany) and in Zolkiew (Galicia). He is best known for his commentary Beit Hillel on the Shulchan Aruch. After leaving his post as dayan in Vilna, he succeeded the Shach (Rabbi Shabtai HaKohen) in his position. [1], 134, [1], 49 Leaves. 29.7 cm.
