Responsa Yeriot Shlomo, First Edition, Vilna 1905. Copy received by Rabbi Shlomo Baumgarten as Mishloach Manot from his students in London, Purim 1940. Excellent condition, original signed binding. - Sefer Yeriot Shlomo Responsa, Part 1, by the great Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ullman, Av Beit Din of Makó, with annotations and explanations by his sons, titled 'Bnei Yisrael' Vilna, 1905. First edition. Includes a long introduction by his grandson, with a biography of the author. Beautiful original binding, the back of the binding is signed by the binder Marton Levy from Grosswardein. Good quality paper, wide margins, excellent condition. A note is affixed to the flyleaf from the students of Rabbi Shlomo Baumgarten, presenting the sefer as a gift of *Mishloach Manot* to their rabbi on Purim 1940. From his students in London: Shlomo Chaim Greenhut, Moshe Yosef Ginsburg, the Rechnitzer brothers, Eliyahu Kohn, Avraham Segal Shisha, Tzvi Fischer, Ephraim Fuchs, & Tzvi L Stamp on the title page of the recipient, Rabbi Shlomo Baumgarten, Av Beit Din of Torah Etz Chaim in London. The author, the great Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Ullman (1792–1863), was one of the leading Torah educators in Hungary. He taught many students who became rabbis and halachic authorities in Hungary. He was born in Ansbach to his father, the great Rabbi Shlomo, author of 'Divrei R'Sh'. He was the son-in-law of Rabbi Simcha Bunim Eiger, Av Beit Din of Mattersdorf, the brother of Rabbi Akiva Eiger. From 1826, he served as Av Beit Din of Makó for about forty years until his passing in 1863. His works include 'Yeriot Shlomo' on Yoreh De'ah, responsa, sugyot, and sermons. 6, 81 leaves; 2 title pages. 33.4 cm.
