Chokhmat Adam – Binat Adam, Sudylkiv 1820. Marginalia of Rabbi Reuven Yitzchak Ilian. Rare! - Sefer Chokhmat Adam and Binat Adam, on Yoreh De'a by Rabbi Avraham Danzig. [Sudylkiv?], circa 1820. This edition was printed without mention of the place, year, or printer. On the title page of Part I appears prominently: ”Vilna”. On the title page of Part II: ”As previously stated, Vilna.” The Bibliography Project of the National Library of Israel estimates the printing to have been in Sudylkiv, circa 1820. The title pages are ornamented with a floral vase design standing on a double rectangular base, see H. Lieberman, Ohel Rachel, vol. 3, p. 97. This second issue is extremely rare, having appeared only twice in public auctions. An interesting feature: The title page of Part II contains the author's introduction, reprinted from the first edition, Vilna 1815–1816. Part I: Chokhmat Adam – [1], 86, [1] leaves. Part II: Binat Adam – [1], 43 leaves. With ownership stamps and handwritten marginal notes of Rabbi Reuven Yitzchak Ilian, son of Rabbi Yekutiel Zisel Ilian. His father served as Rabbi of Klikol in Lithuania. Rabbi Reuven Yitzchak served as a rabbi and halakhic decisor in Riga for many years, until his passing in 1915. 37.2 cm.
