A Dollar from the Lubavitcher Rebbe – For a Shlichut Mission to Antwerp, 1975 - This significant dollar was received directly from the holy hands of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, in the year 5735 (1975), by a Chassid embarking on a sacred mission—Shlichut to Antwerp, Belgium. The concept of Shlichut is central to the Chabad-Lubavitch movement: couples, known as shluchim, are sent to all corners of the world to establish Jewish centers, teach Torah, and strengthen Jewish life. Their mission, inspired by the Rebbe’s vision, is to bring light, education, and spiritual warmth to Jews of all backgrounds, and to help deepen their connection to Yiddishkeit. This particular dollar was given by the Rebbe as a blessing and token of empowerment to the Chassid before his departure to Antwerp. The Rebbe’s dollar served not only as a physical gift but also as a spiritual charge—to go with strength, purpose, and divine protection. Inscribed on this dollar by the Chassid are the Hebrew initials: ”מכ”ק אדמו”ר - מ”ש ל”ה” This inscription stands for: ”מכבוד קדושת אדוננו מורנו ורבנו – מרכז שליחות תשל”ה” (“From the honor and holiness of our Rebbe – Shlichut Headquarters 5735”), indicating the origin of the dollar, the recipient’s mission, and the year it was given.
