A Dollar from the Lubavitcher Rebbe – For a Shlichut Mission to Antwerp, 1974 - This sacred one-dollar bill was personally received from the holy hands of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, in the year 5734 (1974), by a devoted Chassid who was embarking on a Shlichut mission to Antwerp, Belgium. Shlichut—the sacred mission of emissaries—is one of the core pillars of the Rebbe's global vision: to send couples and individuals, known as shluchim, to Jewish communities across the world in order to strengthen Jewish identity, education, observance, and unity. These emissaries establish Chabad Houses, serve as spiritual leaders, and provide vital support to Jews of all backgrounds, often in distant or underserved regions. This dollar bill, inscribed by the Chassid in red ink with the Hebrew letters ”מ״ש ל״ד”, an abbreviation for ”מרכז שליחות תשל״ד” , marks its unique role in the history of Chabad's expansion in Antwerp. The Rebbe would often give dollars to those going on shlichut, imbuing them with his blessing for success in their holy mission.
