Two One Dollar Bills Received from the Lubavitcher Rebbe, One on the 7th of Cheshvan 5746, and One on Purim 5746 - The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, led the Chabad-Lubavitch movement from 1951. He is known for his profound wisdom, compassionate leadership, and unwavering dedication to the Jewish people. One of the many ways he sought to uplift and inspire was through the distribution of dollar bills. It was customary for the Lubavitcher Rebbe to give out dollars to his Chassidim and many other men women and children who came to see him on different occasions. The Dollars were usually distributed in relation to Holidays and Significant Days of the Year, on Sundays, and in the Rebbes later years different variations of dollars were given out and included along with the special Kuntreisim that would be distributed in 770. These dollar bills were distributed by the Lubavitcher Rebbe on two highly significant dates in the Chabad and Hebrew calendar — 7th of Cheshvan and Purim The 7th of Cheshvan marks the beginning of the formal request for rain in the land of Israel in the Amidah prayer — a symbol of our reliance on Divine blessing and sustenance. It represents the balance between human responsibility and trust in G-d’s providence. In Chassidic thought, the day also reflects inner spiritual preparation, as the inspiration of the High Holidays and Sukkot begins to take root in everyday life.
