Three One Dollar Bills Received from Holy Hands of the Lubavitcher Rebbe, on the 19th day of Kislev 5749; The ”Rosh Hashanah of Chassidut” - The Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, led the Chabad-Lubavitch movement from 1951. He is known for his profound wisdom, compassionate leadership, and unwavering dedication to the Jewish people. One of the many ways he sought to uplift and inspire was through the distribution of dollar bills. . It was customary for the Lubavitcher Rebbe to give out dollars to his Chassidim and many other men women and children who came to see him on different occasions. The Dollars were usually distributed in relation to Holidays and Significant Days of the Year, on Sundays, and in the Rebbes later years different variations of dollars were given out and included along with the special Kuntreisim that would be distributed in 770. These three dollar bills were distributed and received from the holy hands of the Rebbe on the 19th of Kislev, 5749 – a day considered the New Year of Chassidut in the Chabad tradition. The 19th of Kislev marks the historic release of the Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, founder of Chabad, from Czarist imprisonment in 1798. His liberation is viewed as a heavenly vindication of the teachings of Chassidut and the mission of spreading inner Torah to the world. Among Chabad Chassidim, this day is celebrated with great joy, farbrengens, and renewed spiritual commitment. In 5749, the Rebbe distributed dollars on this momentous day, to be given to charity (tzedakah) – a symbolic act of transforming blessing into action, material into spiritual.
