The author’s Rabbi Chaim Palagi signature on his work Chukkekei Lev. One of his earliest and rarest publications – MiYagon LeSimcha by his teacher Rabbi Yitzchak Gatineo, Salonika 1795. Extremely Rare! - 1.  Sefer Chukkekei Lev, Part I. Responsa on Orach Chaim, Yoreh De’ah, and Even HaEzer. One of the earliest works of Rabbi Chaim Palagi. Salonika, [1840]. At the top of the title page appears the autograph signature of the author, Rabbi Chaim Palagi. Very Rare! Also bears the signature of Rabbi Yaakov ben Mordechai HaLevi, with an ownership note that he purchased the sefer in 1872 in the city of Milas (Turkey) from Mattityahu Alaluf. At the bottomof the title page appears the numbering (3) – i.e., the author’s third work. [1], 2, 132 Leaves. 30.7 cm. Leaves 121–122 supplied in facsimile. 2. Sefer MiYagon LeSimcha: on the novellae of the Maharam on Hilchot Semachot, with the original text. By Rabbi Yitzchak Gatineo. Salonika, [ca. 1795]. Printed without a title page. The printing was never completed. Includes only 32 sections. Extremely Rare! A complete copy has never appeared at public auction. Even the copy in the National Library is lacking leaves. On folio 12b, Rabbi Yitzchak Gatineo writes: “See my small sefer Beit Yitzchak… folio 53b…54a there.” That work was printed in 1792 in Salonika. From this we learn that the present work was composed after that date. In other places in the sefer (5c and 6b), the author mentions his father with the blessing of life, and he passed away on the 5th of Shevat 1795 – thus, this work was printed earlier. In the notes of the Bibliography Project it is written that Rabbi Yitzchak Gatineo passed away on the 14th of Elul 1800 in Izmir, and that the remaining copies of the work, which were in the possession of his disciple Rabbi Chaim Palagi, were bound by him at the end of his Chaim VeShalom (Part I), printed in Izmir 1857. At the head of the title page is an antique inscription from the time of printing:  ”This Torah was prepared and investigated, going around the great eagle of blessed memory, our teacher Rabbi Mei Behold the beauty and majesty of the eminent Rabbi, a candle son of a candle, our teacher Rabbi Yitzchak Gatineo, author of Beit Yitzchak and Beit Mo’ed, of blessed and holy memory.” The Hilchot Semachot of Rabbi Meir of Rothenburg, 115 sections, were later printed with the commentary of Rabbi Yehuda ben Natan HaLevi, under the title Machaneh Levi, Livorno 1819–1828. The complete Hilchot Semachot, 157 sections, were printed by Y. Z. Kahana within Teshuvot, Pesakim U’Minhagim of the Maharam of Rothenburg, vol.
