Signatures of Rabbi Yitzchak Schiff of Zbarov 'R. Itzikel Becheraver', brother of the Yismach Moshe.-The Gaon Rabbi Yeshayah Perl, Av Beis Din of Kurima Rabbi Shmuel David Rappaport of Bardejov. - Sefer Sidrei Taharah – on Shulchan Aruch, Hilchos Niddah, by Rabbi Elchanan b”r Shmuel Zanwil Ashkenazi (Rabbi of Danzig). Dyhernfurth, 1808. On the title page: the signature of Rabbi Yitzchak Schiff of Zbarov (known as “R’ Itzikel Becheraver”), brother of the Yismach Moshe – “Yitzchak Schiff.” This signature is extremely rare – no other autograph of his is known until now. On the flyleaf: an early inscription, somewhat difficult to read – “To the eminent rabbi, the distinguished scholar R. Yitzchak Schiff, brother of the great Gaon R. Moshe…” Other antique ownership inscriptions: “Belongs to the eminent rabbi, the distinguished, renowned leader R. Yitzchak Schiff of Zbarov.” “To the eminent rabbi, the distinguished, renowned officer R. Yitzchak Schiff of Zbarov.” Also on the flyleaf: the signature of the Gaon Rabbi Yeshayah Perl, Av Beis Din of Kurima: “Purchased from the estate of the distinguished R. Yitzchak Schiff z”l – Yeshaya Perl.” And another early inscription: “Belongs to the eminent rabbi, the distinguished, sharp, pious and peace-loving, R. Yeshaya Perl.” Signatures of Rabbi Shmuel David Rappaport of Bardejov. Latin-script stamp of R. Moshe (Mor) Mittelmann of Bardejov. Rabbi Yitzchak Schiff of Zbarov and Becherov – illustrious rabbi, mentioned in Shu”t Shiv Moshe of his brother, the holy Gaon and tzaddik the Yismach Moshe (responsum 81), where he signs: “Yitzchak b’haravani R. Tzvi Hirsch Schiff of Zbarov.” He passed away in 1836. His gravestone in Zbarov bears the inscription: “A wholesome and upright man, the eminent rabbi, who shone like day…” The Gaon Rabbi Yeshayah Perl, Av Beis Din of Kurima – previously served as dayan in Zbarov in the beis din of the saintly Rabbi Yosef HaLevi Lichtig, and afterward was appointed Av Beis Din of Kurima. He passed away in 1856 and was buried in the same ohel as the holy Rebbi Michel of Kurima, a great-grandson of the holy Rebbi Zusha of Anipoli. Rabbi Shmuel David Rappaport of Bardejov – born c. 1818, son of the Gaon Rabbi Shaul. Married Liba, daughter of R. Yitzchak ha-Kohen Harpuder of Bardejov. Passed away in 1886 at the age of 68. His descendants include: R. Yaakov Rappaport of Bardejov, father-in-law of the Keren L’Dovid of Satmar. R. Avraham Rappaport, brother-in-law of the holy Rebbe of Połaniec. R. Mordechai Rappaport of Munkacs, later son-in-law (second marriage) of the saintly author of Ma’aglei Tzedek of Dej. Mrs. Shprintza, wife of R. Shlomo Eliezer Fructer. [1], 69 Leaves. 37.5 cm.
