Mid-20th Century Sterling Silver Mayim Achronim Set, Jerusalem - A beautifully handcrafted mid-century Mayim Achronim set, made in Jerusalem by an unknown silversmith, hallmarked with the initials מ.ג. inside a Star of David. The set exhibits exquisite hand-hammered detailing on its exterior and select interior surfaces, reflecting the careful craftsmanship characteristic of Jerusalem silver of the period. The ensemble comprises a lower goblet-shaped basin designed to collect the water used for ritual hand washing, accompanied by a stepped, saucer-shaped tray with three concentric levels. A small hole at the tray’s innermost level allows the washed water to flow into the lower basin while simultaneously covering it—a design essential for diners to recite the Grace After Meals. A small, elegant pitcher with a serpentine, auriform handle is thoughtfully integrated into the side of the tray, fitting precisely within the lowest level to ensure both functionality and a complete cover for the water below. The exterior of the lower basin is inscribed with the words “מים אחרונים” in delicate hand-applied lettering, clearly identifying the set’s ritual purpose. Hallmarked under each piece. 10.38ozt Total Weight 15cm Total Height
