Children’s Hanukkah Candle Lamp, Bezalel , Jerusalem, C. 1925 - A charming and historic children’s Hanukkah lamp, crafted by the renowned Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts in Jerusalem, circa 1925. This small silver lamp features eight candle holders arranged in a semi-circular row, with the shamash elevated behind them. A removable curved backplate can be inserted behind the row of candles, adorned with a beautifully detailed design of two deer facing each other, surrounded by elegant filigree scrolling patterns. The front bears a delicate Hebrew inscription, “והנרות הללו קודש הם, ” emphasizing the ritual sanctity of the Hanukkah candles. The lamp’s design exemplifies Bezalel’s signature fusion of traditional Jewish motifs with early 20th-century artistic sensibilities. Stylized floral and foliate patterns adorn the upper section, while spiraling and beaded detailing enhances its decorative appeal.
