Megillat Esther Scroll in Filigree Case, Bezalel School of Arts, Jerusalem, 20th Century - An extraordinary Megillat Esther scroll housed in a breathtaking sterling silver filigree case, crafted by the renowned Bezalel School of Arts in Jerusalem. The case features nearly entirely openwork filigree designs with delicate scrolls and intricate patterns, accented by purple marble-colored stones. The scrolling patterns are astonishingly detailed, reflecting the masterful craftsmanship and artistic vision characteristic of early Bezalel metalwork. The handle is beautifully formed in a heart shape, offering both elegance and a charming touch. Attached to the sides of the handle are small rail-like designs that allow the scroll to be pulled open, revealing the parchment Megillah written inside the case. The filigree incorporates finely rendered silver wire depictions of a menorah, the Western Wall (Kotel), and the Ten Commandments, each exquisitely detailed. The top of the case is designed in a regal crown-like filigree pattern, featuring an imperial crown with graceful arches and a bird finial. At the bottom of the case, the words “Bezalel Jerusalem” are skillfully rendered in silver wire work, proudly marking its origin.
