Mohel Book of the Chassid Rabbi Moshe Zvi Gottlieb of Deyzh and its environs, 1865–1879. On the flyleaf: signatures of the mohel Rabbi Moshe Zvi Gottlieb of Deyzh Bound at the end: the “Mohel Book” of the chassid Rabbi Moshe Zvi Gottlieb of Deyzh, in which he recorded about 170 circumcisions that he performed between the years 1865–1879. At the end are novellae  written by him in 1888. In addition to his city Deyzh, he performed circumcisions in Hanhóvice, Lete-Latá, Derecske, Vyrtes, Kalov, Arashar, Somovár, Debrecen, Saros, Bende, Mara, Ágnea-Ákne, Keszeher, Benedek, Kadzi Rave, Soye. Rabbi Moshe Zvi Gottlieb (son of the famous chassid Rabbi Baruch Zvi Gottlieb, son of the holy Rabbi Yaakov Gottlieb, Av Beit Din of Boyam) was an expert shochet and bodek in the community of Deyzh. He found favor in the eyes of God and man, pursuing charity and kindness. He was a renowned chassid throughout the region, also wise and refined, and altogether beloved. From there he traveled to the Holy Land and established his home—one of Torah, fear of Heaven, and chassidut. When he left Deásh, elders and youths, men and women, escorted him with bitter tears and great longing, such was the deep love between him and his community. His tombstone on the Mount of Olives is inscribed: “Here lies the eminent rabbi in Torah and fear of Heaven, the exalted chassid, a man of delight, rabbi Moshe Zvi Gottlieb z”l, shochet and bodek of Deyzh, son of the famous chassid Rabbi Baruch Yechiel z”l, son of the holy tzaddik Rabbi Yaakov z”l, Av Beit Din of Boyam in the land of Hungary. His soul departed in purity on Motzaei Shabbat, Parashat Ki Tavo, the 21st of Elul, year 1910.” 36 leaves. The Mohel Book comprises 24 handwritten pages, plus 4 additional pages of novellae.
