Erech Hashulchan, Part I. First edition, Livorno 1798. - Sefer Erech Hashulchan, Part I on Yoreh De‘ah, by Rabbi Yitzḥak ben Rabbi Binyamin Tayeb, the Gaon Rabbi Yitzḥak Tayeb, of the foremost sages of Tunisia in the 18th century. First Edition. Livorno, 1798. On the title page: an early Sephardic signature of Rabbi Yosef Yom-Tov Meyucḥas. Rabbi Yitzḥak Tayeb (1746–1828), one of the leading rabbis of Tunisia, was born to Rabbi Binyamin Tayeb. He studied under Rabbi Yosef Zarka, a contemporary of the Ḥid״a. Early in his career he served as a dayan under Rabbi Nehorai Jarmon, and his rulings are scattered throughout the writings of the sages of his generation. Following the passing of Rabbi David Ḥizkiyah Gaz in 1818, he was appointed Chief Rabbi of Tunis, a position he held until his death.
