The book was received with great acclaim and was later incorporated into many subsequent editions of the Shulchan Aruch. He served as a dayan in Prague and later as rabbi in Reisha (Rzeszów), after which he was named. He authored many important works, among them Chok Yaakov, Minchat Yaakov, and Shevut Yaakov.
