Extremely Rare! - Torat ha-Asor - a book of tikkunim and an ordered ritual practiced by the members of the Society of the Tenth Day, may they flourish, at the home of the brothers, sons of the late R. Yosef Yisrael Rava of Verona. With the exception of the Tikkun for the 7th of Adar, which had been printed earlier in Mantua 1725 as a separate book. Only Edition. Mantua, 1740. Printed by the Dr. Rafael Chaim of Italy. At the beginning of the sefer is an introduction stating that the members of the society instituted a fixed program of study consisting of Scripture, Mishnah, and ethical-pietistic teachings, arranged according to the guidance of “the righteous rabbi, ” the author of Shenei Luḥot ha-Berit (Rabbi Isaiah Horowitz, the Shlah Hakadosh), to be recited on every tenth day of the month at the home of the sons of R. Yosef Raba. On each tenth day, one member of the society was obligated to fast. Following the introduction are the formal regulations of the society (“the conditions”). The society was founded on Rosh Ḥodesh Tammuz, 1716. The volume includes chapters from Scripture and Mishnah (tractates Zevahim, Menacḥot, and Tamid); an order of study to be recited when the tenth day falls on the eve of Rosh Hashanah; and an order of study to be recited on the night of Yom Kippur before Kol Nidrei.
