Born in 1880 to Rebbe Yaakov Perlow and Devora, daughter of Rabbi Leibush Liberson of Proskurov. Named after his paternal grandfather, the first Rebbe Shlomo Chaim of Koidanov. Recognized as a prodigy in Torah from a young age; even before his Bar Mitzvah he corresponded with leading rabbis, including Rabbi Eliyahu Chaim Meisel and Rabbi Moshe Nachum Yerushalemski, who responded with great honor not knowing he was a child. Authored his first work, Tosafot Chaim on minor tractates, at age 16. At 17, he married his cousin Deborah Miriam, daughter of Rebbi Yehoshua Heshel of Bolchow, son-in-law of Rebbi Israel Shmuel Niahoz. In 1904, after the passing of his uncle and father-in-law Rabbi Yehoshua Heshel, he succeeded him as rabbi of Bolchov in Galicia. He founded a yeshiva with some 60 students and became renowned for his writings. His leadership followed the path of Karlin and Koidanov Hasidism, distinguished in Galicia. Each Shabbat he would hold three tishim, delivering lengthy Hasidic discourses. He also served as rabbi of Tlomatsch and had many chasidim throughout Galicia. During the Holocaust, he encouraged the Jews of his town to escape but refused to leave, choosing to remain and strengthen his community. In Kislev 1942 he was imprisoned in the Stry ghetto. A plan to hide him with a Gentile sympathizer failed due to betrayal. On 11 Tammuz 1943 he was executed publicly while wrapped in a tallit. When those around him refused to disrobe him out of respect, he voluntarily removed his garments, recited the Vidui confession aloud, and was shot. He is remembered as a holy martyr Hy''d.
