Signatures of Rabbi Yisrael Zev Panet of Téglás on the sefer of his grandfather, the Mar’eh Yechezkel. - Sefer Shu”t Mar’eh Yechezkel and Sha’arei Tzion, by the holy Rebbe Yechezkel Panet, Av Beit Din of Karlsburg, of blessed memory. Published by the author’s son, the holy Rebbe Menachem Mendel Panet of Dés. First Edition. Sighet, 1875. Includes several signatures and stamps of Rabbi Yisrael Zev Panet of Téglás, the grandson of the author. Also contains a dedication from his grandson Rabbi Yishai Greenfeld of Antwerp, who also handwrote several pages in the sefer. Rabbi Yisrael Zev (Wolf) Panet of Téglás (c. 1853–1936) was born to his father, the righteous Rabbi Leibush, son of the Holy auther the Mar’eh Yechezkel and his mother Ettel, daughter of the renowned gaon, author of Tehillah LeDavid of St. Petersburg. He studied Torah in his father’s home and later under the holy Rabbi Chaim Yosef Gottlieb of Stropkov (author of Tov Gittin ve-Kiddushin). He also spent time in the courts of leading Hasidic masters, including Rebbi Tzvi Hirsch of Liska, Rebbi Moshe of Dées, and Rebbi Yehoshua of Belz. He married the daughter of the wealthy philanthropist Rabbi Shmuel Rosenfeld and lived in Téglás. His home was open generously to all and served as a gathering place for scholars. He merited a distinguished family of children and sons-in-law who were Torah scholars. He passed away in old age in 1936 . Before his passing, he instructed that wooden planks from his shop be used for his coffin, so they would testify that he had never benefited from theft!
