Zikaron bi-Yerushalayim. First Edition. Constantinople, 1743. With Illustrations. Exceptionally Rare! - Sefer Zikaron bi-Yerushalayim, a guide to the tombs of the righteous and other sacred sites in the Land of Israel, together with prayers to be recited at these holy places. The volume contains Yuchasta de-Tzaddikayya, describing the resting places of the righteous buried in the Holy Land, followed by Et Laḥanannah by Rabbi Michael ben Moshe ha-Kohen (first printed in Venice, 1708), a liturgy for prayer at the Western Wall. The editor further added additional prayers for pilgrims traveling to the Land of Israel, as well as illustrations of the Western Wall, the Holy Temple, and the Walls of Jericho. Prepared for publication by Rabbi Yehudah Poliyastro. First Edition. Constantinople, 1743. Printed by Yonah ben Yaakov Ashkenazi. An attractively illustrated edition featuring numerous woodcut illustrations. Of particular note is the beautiful illustration on p. 13 depicting the Third Temple, whose rebuilding is anticipated in the traditional Jewish hope for the Messianic era. Also includes a prayer in Ladino. This first edition is of exceptional rarity. It has appeared at public auction only once, (that copy lacked eight leaves. The present copy is substantially more complete, with only the final leaf supplied in facsimile). 46, [2] pages. 14.2 cm.
