Armen Atayan (Armenian, 1922 - 2021) - Armen Atayan (Armenian, 1922 - 2021), oil on canvas, signed and dated l. r., 47 x 53,7 cm. Notes Armen Atayan graduated from Yerevan Art School in 1941. Following the outbreak of the Second World War, he volunteered for military service, contributing as part of a tank unit orchestra and later within the model orchestra of the Transcaucasian Front. After the war, he pursued formal artistic training at the Yerevan Art and Theatre Institute, studying under the distinguished Armenian painter Martiros Saryan and further refining his practice under the guidance of Alexander Osmerkin. He graduated in 1952, presenting a diploma work titled Maxim Gorky and Avetik Isahakyan on the Shores of Lake Sevan. From 1952 onwards, he regularly participated in exhibitions. In 1954, he relocated to Kyiv, where he lived and worked for a decade and held a solo exhibition in 1963. He returned to Yerevan in 1964, continuing his artistic career there. His works are held in museum collections in Armenia and Ukraine, as well as in numerous private collections.
