Robert Elibekian (Armenian, b. 1941) - Robert Elibekian (Armenian, b. 1941), ”Sevan Suite”, tempera on cardboard, signed and dated 1988 l.r., also on reverse, 49 x 62 cm. Notes Robert Elibekian was born in 1941 in Tbilisi, Georgia. He has been a member of the Armenian Artist Union since 1970. For many years, he was actively involved in stage design for theaters and film studios in Armenia and abroad. As a modern artist, Elibekian goes beyond the harmony of form and color, drawing inspiration from various sources such as the Greco-Roman era, Asian art, and Egyptian art. By listening to the notes of an internal symphony, Elibekian's palette brings ”the fragrances of the East and the rhythms of the West” to life, creating a space where dancers and musicians come to life. Through his paintbrush, Elibekian directs ballets of colors, simultaneously creating ballerinas, decors, and musical themes. The gestures of the dancers capture moments of choice in their ebb and flow, moving from harmony to harmony, decomposing and recomposing in a spectrum of crystal clear poses. These images form a musical ocean where the fusion of colors gives rise to a theatrical show, charming our senses. In each of his paintings, from still lifes to figures, Elibekian demonstrates the supremacy of his expression. He orchestrates his art in a way that surpasses mere description. As Germak states, ”Because Robert Elibekian does not speak in words when he wants to convey a Garden of Eden where roses bloom, he allows us to perceive through our eyes the delicious, delicate taste of the scent of roses” (Germak, Christian. Robert Elibekian, pp.4). Elibekian's creative journey has been reflected in numerous personal exhibitions worldwide. His art has been showcased in several museums, including the National Gallery of Armenia, the Museum of Modern Art of Yerevan, the Matenadaran Museum, the Museum of Oriental Art Moscow, the Cafesjian Museum of Art in Armenia, the Alex Manoogian Museum of Detroit, Elyseum Palace in Paris, the White House in Washington DC, the Zimerli Museum in New Jersey, and the Stepahnei's Gallery in Los Angeles.
