Tatyana Yablonskaya (Ukrainian, 1917–2005) - Tatyana Yablonskaya (Ukrainian, 1917–2005), ”Spring”, oil on canvas, signed and dated 1961 l.r., 40,5 x 50 cm. Notes Tatyana Nylovna Yablonskaya was a celebrated Soviet and Ukrainian painter. She was named a People's Artist of the USSR (1982) and received the USSR State Prize (1979) as well as two Stalin Prizes (1950, 1951). Born in Smolensk to an artist father, her family moved to Ukraine in 1928. After studies in Kiev, she graduated from the Kiev State Art Institute in 1941, where she trained under Professor F. Krichevsky. Throughout her career, Yablonskaya participated in major international exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale (1956) and the Brussels World Fair (1958). She held over thirty solo exhibitions in cities such as Moscow, London, Budapest, and Kiev.
