Notes Gohar Fermanyan born into a well-off Tbilisi family, Gohar's youth coincided with a time when the artistic profession was in demand. She decided to pursue higher education and enrolled in the prestigious Leningrad Higher Art and Technical Institute. Her teacher was Petrov-Vodkin himself. In her later years, Fermanyan received commissions in the spirit of the then-fashionable Socialist Realism, but her early work, created in the late 1920s, holds a special place in the history of Armenian art.
