Sargis Hamalbashyan (Armenian, b.1956) - Sargis Hamalbashyan (Armenian, b.1956), ”Sitting woman”, oil on canvas, signed and dated 1989 l. l. and on reverse, 60 x 40 cm. Notes Sargis Hamalbashyan is an Armenian painter and Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia (2008). From 1969 to 1970, he studied at the Gyumri Art School, and from 1971 to 1975, at the Panos Terlemezian State Art College in Yerevan. Hamalbashyan's works are held in prominent collections, including the National Gallery of Armenia, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Yerevan, cultural foundations in Russia and Armenia, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, the Royal Museum of Jordan, the Gaffeschian Gallery (Washington, D.C.), the Bel-Air Fine Art Gallery (Geneva), the Arame Gallery (Yerevan), as well as in numerous private collections in Armenia and abroad.
