Alfonso de Nicola 1938 Pencil on paper 42 x 31 cm Signed lower right The artwork depicts Dr. Alfonso de Nicola (Longano, 1885 - deported 1944), a dermatologist doctor from Molise, a graduate of the University of Naples, who served as a volunteer in Argentina and then moved to Trieste, where he carried out his professional activities, giving care to Jewish patients. He was taken home by the Nazis and never returned. PROVENANCE: Artist's atelier Private collection, Pavia (received directly from the artist and by descent to the present owner)
