Lithograph in colors Ed.  50 53.5 x 42.5 cm An original signed lithograph on Arches paper by French artist Andre Masson (1896-1987) titled “L'Enfantement (Childbirth)”, 1955. Hand pencil signed by Masson lower left and numbered lower right. Limited edition: 50. Printer and publisher unknown. There is an example of this artwork in the permanent collection of the Tate Museum, London, UK. 'Childbirth' depicts a naked female fluidly drawn and floating in an indeterminate space activated by curvilinear strokes and several star motifs. The background is predominantly gray, the body delineated in black and white and the right hand and shoulder are picked out in a vivid red. The uppermost star is also in red.
