Lopienski brothers workshop (?) - Scythe-bearer (Bartosz Glowacki). Patinated bronze 23,5 (heigth with scythe) x 10,5 x 7,3 cm Figure height: 12 cm, scythe: 17,5 cm Waga: 0,92 kg Unsigned (Lopienski brothers' workshop or after). Bronze cast, depicting a scythe bearer: a man with a sumptuous mustache, dressed in traditional folk costume (a dress robe, high boots with uppers, on his head a krakuska with a lamb's mantle. He stands on an irregular base as if on a rock. It fits into the traditional iconography depicting Bartosz Glowacki. The Lopienski brothers' workshop was established in Warsaw in 1862. It was located at 55 Hoża Street and specialized in the production of bronze, silver and precious metal products, highly valued in the interwar period. The company's products were awarded many times, including in 1925 at the World Exhibition in Paris. The company worked with the best Polish artists. Painter Jan Strzałecki was the designer of many of the products, while Xawery Dunikowski and Cyprian Godebski, among others, also cast their works there. After World War II, the Lopienski brothers' factory restored, among other things, the destroyed monuments of Warsaw.
