RAVENSHEAD GLASS 17cm BLUE BARK VASES (2) c1970s (Ravenhead Glass was a historic British glassworks located near Ravenhead Colliery in St Helens, Merseyside, England. Founded in 1842 by Frances Dixon and John Merson, the company initially produced glass bottles before expanding to domestic tableware in the 1930s. The company merged with five other glass manufacturers in 1913 to form United Glass Bottle Manufacturers Limited. Under the direction of Alexander Hardie Williamson, who designed over 1,700 patterns, Ravenhead became a dominant player in the UK market. The company's production peaked in the 1960s, with a significant export to over 100 countries. However, due to declining demand for traditional dimpled glass designs, Ravenhead Glass closed its factory in 2001. The brand has since been revived by The Rayware Group, which continues to offer a range of traditional glassware under the Ravenhead name.)
