Letter from Rabbi Menachem Mendel Alter of Pabianice, son of the Sfas Emess & brother of Imrei Emess. Góra Kalwaria 1911 A full handwritten and signed letter by Rabbi Menachem Mendel Alter of Pabianice. In his letter he appeals to a friend on behalf of the letter carrier, with the promise that it is beyond his ability to be of any help, and therefore he asks him to make all efforts to assist. Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Pabianice [1877-1942] was the youngest son of the Admor, author of the Sfat Emet from Gur, and the brother of the Admor, author of the Imrei Emet from Gur. He was the Rav of Ponovezh and later of Kalish. He served as the head of Agudat HaRabbanim of Poland, and as a member of the Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah of Agudat Yisrael. He is considered one of the founders of the Chareidi press in Poland. During the holocaust he was one of the leaders of the Chareidi population in the Warsaw Ghetto.
