Bronze Mukhalinga - Bronze Mukhalinga India, 18th century Lost-wax cast depicting the face of Shiva emerging from the linga, his aniconic form and symbol of the cosmic generative principle. The face (mukha) conveys a solemn, hieratic expression and is topped by a turban, while naga-shaped earrings - representing the mythical serpent and guardian, emblem of Shiva's transformative power-rise on either side. Detailed necklaces adorn the neck, emphasizing his regal aspect. Traces of ritual powder throughout the object. Provenance: Central Italy collection. H. 11.7 X 5.5 cm
