Bronze devotional depicting Shri Devi with lotus flower - Bronze devotional depicting Shri Devi with lotus flower Southern India, first half of the 19th century Votive sculpture depicting a female deity of the Hindu pantheon, probably related to Lakshmi or Parvati, portrayed standing on a circular, double-stepped base decorated with stylized petals. The goddess is depicted with her torso leaning slightly forward and sinuous hips, according to the canons of ideal beauty of Dravidian India. Her right arm raises a lotus flower (padma), emblem of purity, fertility and divine manifestation, while her left arm is stretched across her body with the hand in varadamudra.
