Silver Pichkari for the Holi Festival - Silver Pichkari for the Holi Festival Northern India, 19th Century Ritual syringe made of low-grade silver, used to spray colored water during the celebrations of Holi, the famous 'festival of colors' in Hindu tradition. The cylindrical body features rings for gripping, one at the top for the thumb and two on the sides for the fingers. The finial flares into a petal-shaped corolla, perforated to disperse the pigmented water. The body is adorned with simple engraved geometric patterns and two shield-shaped cartouches. This pichkari, also used in aristocratic and ceremonial contexts, reflects the blend of everyday objects with popular festive practices. Provenance: Central Italy collection. L cm 19
