Votive round box depicting Gajalakshmi - Votive round box depicting Gajalakshmi Western India, Gujarat, 19th or 20th century A small object intended for private devotion, composed of a double-domed brass casing engraved with floral and geometric motifs. Inside, preserved as a votive image, is a miniature painting on paper depicting the goddess Lakshmi in her Gajalakshmi variant-being anointed and crowned by two elephants, symbols of abundance and royalty. Certain details are highlighted with two-dimensional applications: small pearls, mirrors, and colored glass beads, elements typical of the folk craftsmanship of Western India. D cm 10
