Three hand-colored lithographic prints - Three hand-colored lithographic prints India, second half 19th century A group of hand-painted lithographic prints from a historical text, today unidentified, depicting two figures and an architectural view: on one side the Persian Emperor Naser al-Din Shah Qajar recognizable by his elaborate feathered headdress and ceremonial uniform and on the other the Prince of Wales, future Edward VII, in a red uniform adorned with honorary decorations. The last print shows an accurate and colourful view of Delhi's Red Fort accompanied by descriptive texts in Urdu and Devanagari that mention the monument's historical name, Lal Qila. The hand-coloured lithographs with vivid pigments are a typical practice of luxury editions produced in British India and the regional courts of the time. Frames not consistent with the prints.
