Miniature painting depicting the audience (darshan) of a ruler - Miniature painting depicting the audience (darshan) of a ruler Northern India, Mewar, second half 17th century Gouache on paper, the composition is tripartite in three vertical segments that also mark out the setting by dividing interior and exterior. The right-hand panel features a sovereign, unidentified, on a throne flanked by two attendants; in the centre are two figures, including a nobleman who has probably requested an audience, and in the left-hand portion a group of musicians.
