A wimpel, the Torah-binder customarily made in Ashkenazic lands such as Germany and others, is created from the cloth of a child’s circumcision garment and fashioned into a binder for the Sefer Torah when the child reaches the age of three. Embroidered on this wimpel are the words: 'משולם ב”כ אליקום שליט”א נולד למ”ט ביום עש”ק יום ב' דפסח תרל”ח לפ”ק השם יגדליהו לתורה ולחופה ולמעשים טובים אמן סלה'. The embroidery threads are colorful and artistic. Between the words “לתורה” and “ולחופה” appear embroidered images of a Sefer Torah and a wedding canopy. The final word “סלה” is wrinkled and worn. Some letters are slightly frayed. Wine stains and small tears. Fair–good condition.
