The divine Kabbalist Rabbi Yaakov Abuchatzeira, the “Avir Yaakov” (1806–1880) – Av Beit Din of Tafilalt and one of the great rabbis of Morocco; posek and darshan, paytan and author; a holy and pure tzaddik, renowned miracle worker, known as one who merited a revelation of Eliyahu. One of the patriarchs of the illustrious Abuchatzeira family. He passed away in Egypt on his way to ascend to Eretz Yisrael. Grandfather of Rabbi Yisrael, the “Baba Sali.” He authored many Sefarim in all areas of Torah, in Nigleh and Nistar, including Yoru Mishpatecha L’Yaakov, Sha’arei Arucha, Bigdei HaSerad, Doresh Tov, Petuchei Chotam, Yagel Yaakov, and more.
