Attached are a letter and a derasha by Harav Hachasid Rabbi Shemaiah Luria to his brother Harav Hachasid Rabbi Yitzchak Mattityahu Luria. 1945. * “The matter of the Charedi newspaper… is about to be realized in the very near future… and therefore I offer myself to serve as agent and writer of the newspaper in Tiberias.” A request from Rabbi Zelig Weinberg to Rabbi Shemaiah Luria, asking that he accept him as the writer and distributor of the new Charedi newspaper, soon to be published in Tiberias. Tiberias, 1933. [1] leaf, official stationery of “Adat Yeshurun, Kollel Reisin, in Eretz HaKodesh Jerusalem, Tiberias, Safed, and Hebron, central office in Tiberias.” Entirely in the handwriting and signature of Rabbi Zelig Weinberg. Rabbi Zelig Weinberg (1919–1992) – son of the holy Birkat Avraham of Slonim, who resided in Tiberias. Good condition. * “One who is not worthy of this may reach, from such innocence, complacency and indifference, in the manner of ‘what does it matter to me, ’ but on the other hand, if a person seeks to delve and ponder every matter, it is dangerous lest he fall, Heaven forbid, into mistaken and foreign thoughts that harm the faith of ‘Be wholehearted with Hashem your G-d.’” A letter by Rabbi Shemaiah Luria on the need for men of faith and spiritual leaders to find the balance between innocence and lack of indifference. Attached is his essay on the verse: 'כי אתה ד' עזרתני ונחמתני'. [Tiberias], 1945. [1] leaf, thin paper folded in half, with a letter on one side and an essay on the other, typed. With the signature of Rabbi Shemaiah Luria. Rabbi Shmuel Shemaiah ben Tzvi Luria (1905–1989) – activist of the Agudat Israel movement, editor of the movement’s newspaper Kol Yisrael, senior figure in the Beit Yaakov educational system in Israel, inspector of the Independent Charedi Education, and one of the leaders of the Slonim Chasidic community in Jerusalem. He was the brother of the Slonim tzaddikim Rabbi Aharon Yosef Luria (1894–1969) and Rabbi Yitzchak Mattityahu Luria (1897–1976). Stains, corner folds, fold marks, good condition.
